Helen Musselwhite for T2.

Petra Eriksson, Featured Project

Our resident paper expert Helen Musselwhite was called into duty in 2018 by Australian based tea brand T2.

The company were looking to do something a bit special in the windows of their flagship Regent Street store, in celebration of London Design Festival. Helen’s brief was to reinterpret the brand’s tagline ‘Tea Reimagined’ in visual form.

Wasting no time, Manchester based Helen got to work, creating a plethora of objects and ingredients constructed entirely from her beloved paper. Each model represented either a tea flavour of an item of ‘tea ware’ on sale in the shop.

I’ve drawn from T2’s extensive library of teas and tea ware and I’ve reproduced them in paper form.

“I’ve taken four kinds of tea from around the world,” she explains. “I’ve got a chai pot, there’s a Japanese tea pot as well as your traditional English teapot, and there’s matcha tea coming out of a matcha bowl. The paper tea tumbles into this giant teacup surrounded by lots of ingredients from the teas,” she explains.

Thanks to Dezeen for permitting the reproduction of parts of their interview and paper distributor GF Smith who supplied all of the wonderful paper for this project.
