As an agency Handsome Frank regularly work with Amazon, usually with their publishing team creating a wide range of lovely illustrated book covers. This time around though, the publishing team were working on something a bit more exciting - the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, which is Amazon’s first e-note device to feature a color E-Ink display.
A key consideration for this project was understanding how the illustrations would be rendered on the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. The E-Ink display renders colours in a very different way to a standard screen, so adjustments had to be made to the artists digital files before they looked their best. This was an interesting stage in the project, but one we were happy to tackle.

We thoroughly enjoyed working on this project with Amazon and the Kindle team. One of the key messages that they wanted to get across was that the artwork was clearly created by a human, hence favouring artists and illustrators with traditional methods like painters.
