Our clients use illustration for a wide range of applications and often bespoke artwork is required and commissioned. However, another option exists. Seen something you like? You may be able to license the perfect image that already exists.
Operating in a similar way to stock photography, licensing existing illustrations allows clients to get what they need quickly and in a cost-effective way. Looking through our artists past work, you might find just the right thing for your corporate communications, interior design, website, social media, book cover, or any other application. Whilst sometimes restrictions apply, re-licensing already completed work may be possible, depending on your requirements and the terms of the original commission. Commissioned projects typically include specific usage conditions, which determine how the illustration can be used in future and whether there are opportunities for it to be re-licensed elsewhere.
Advertising campaigns for example typically retain exclusive use by the client, in perpetuity. On the other hand though, magazine covers and editorial work may be time or geographically restricted to anywhere from 30 days to 1 year from publication. After which the image rights return to the artist, making the work available for others to re-license. This provides the option of quick deliverables for the client, whilst providing our artists a secondary income from work they have already invested their time and talents into creating.
