Tim McDonagh recently completed an epic and ambitious illustrative undertaking for the New York Times, titled 'The Revolution Through the Eyes of Seven Everyday Founders'.
The project tells the story of the American Revolution, from the perspectives of figures who are often left out of traditional historical narratives.

Collaborating closely with T-Brand Studio, Tim transformed their sketches into richly immersive, cinematic illustrations. The result is an expansive visual timeline spanning 250 years since the American Revolution. Introducing history to readers via seven 'everyday' founders and drawing readers into their worlds.

Throughout the feature, Tim created sweeping, detailed scenes centred around each key character. The illustrations were brought to life through the New York Times' innovative use of parallax scrolling, with scene transitions and captions unfolding as readers move through the interactive timeline.

The project is testament to Tim's talents and a fantastic example of how illustration can be utilised as a immersive and interactive tool.
